2024/25 Audio-Visual Project

We're delighted to report that in June 2025 we completed the second phase of a major upgrade to the tech infrastructure in our church, improving the audio, visual, and live streaming capabilities.  This will not only enhance our regular worship services (everyone always welcome), but also provide the St Weonards village community and others in the area with an excellent venue for events and meetings.  There's a small car park available for visitors just off Mount Way, and the church already benefits from a small galley kitchen area and toilet.

The audio upgrade was completed in June 2024, and the visual part a year later after much fundraising.  This was all subject to a successful faculty application to the Diocesan Chancellor, the Worshipful Mark Ockleton.

A huge thank you to everyone in our local community and beyond who has contributed financially to this project.  Your generosity has made it all possible!

If you would like more information, please download our 2024/25 AV Project briefing pack.

A brief introduction to our church

Although most of this beautiful Grade 1 listed building dates from the 16th century, parts of the earlier 13th century structure are still visible, particularly the chancel arch, lower part of the south wall of the nave and the inner doorway of the porch. The Mynors Chapel was built in 1521 and the Mynors family still live in Treago Castle just down the road. There are a number of interesting features in the church and the remains of a 15th century cross in the churchyard. The tower has six bells which are regularly rung. The facilities in the church include a kitchen and an accessible toilet.

St. Weonard is shrouded in the mists of antiquity but may have been a local hermit and/or a woodcutter -- he may also have been the same person as the Welsh St Gwennarth.  For more information on our church, please refer to our St. Weonards Church leaflet May 2026.pdf, or see the Visit Herefordshire Churches site, or the National Churches Trust's  Explore Churches website, or the Herefordshire Through Time site.

If you're visiting, we'd love to know how much you enjoyed your visit: why not leave a comment in our visitor's book, or submit a rating and/or comments via our  Explore Churches page?

Support us via

Parish Giving Scheme

It costs over £450 per week to keep this church and churchyard open, and contribute to the costs of our parish vicar.  We remain completely reliant on generous donors and fund-raisers to meet these costs -- we receive no money from the government, county or parish councils, or the central church.

Considering a regular donation?

It's incredibly helpful for our planning if members of the congregation and supporters choose to contribute to the work of the church on a regular, planned basis.  The best way you can do this is via our Parish Giving Scheme (PGS) account.  This allows you to make a regular donation (monthly, quarterly, or annually -- to suit your circumstances), with assurance of the Direct Debit guarantee.  You can make changes quickly and easily if your circumstances change.  You can choose to increase your gift with inflation every year (most people do), and you have the option to give anonymously.

For a quick introduction to PGS, why not watch this short video?

It's easy to set up and manage your gift online [click link].  However, you can also set up your gift by phone by calling 0333 002 1271 9am-5pm on weekdays.   When you call, a member of the central PGS team based in Gloucester will ask you to provide a Parish Code : please quote 180618246 for St Weonards.

If using the phone service, you will need to have to hand your personal bank account details, to state whether your donation will be eligible for Gift Aid, and whether you wish to increase the value of your gift in line with inflation each year (you can always amend this instruction later).  The sign-up process by phone should take no more than 10-15 minutes.

If you'd prefer to complete a paper PGS Gift Form, please contact Stephen Herbert, our PCC Treasurer and Gift Aid Officer, or pick one up from the display stand in church.

Whichever way you choose to give, thank you for your generous support.

Support us with Stewardship

If you are considering a regular donation, please go to our Parish Giving Scheme page (details above) rather than using the give monthly option with Stewardship, as PGS is fee-free for us!

Alternatively, do contact our PCC Treasurer to ask about other ways to make a donation, including leaving a gift in your will.  Confidentiality is assured.

We prefer bank transfers if this is possible for you.  You can find details of how to do this here.

All cheques should be made payable to St Weonards PCC.  If you wish your donation to be restricted to the Churchyard Fund (for maintenance of St Weonards Churchyard) or Building Fund (for fabric repairs), please attach a brief accompanying note to explain this.

THANK YOU -- your contribution, of whatever size, will make a real difference to the church and our outreach.

Considering leaving a legacy?

Leaving a gift in your Will to St Weonard's Church is one of the most valuable and lasting ways you can continue to support the mission and ministry in our local community.  To find out more, please read our short St Weonards PCC Legacy Policy.pdf

Everyone knows it’s a good idea to make a will, but for many of us it’s one of those things we never quite get round to doing!  Here's a quick reminder of why it's important to write your Will.

St Weonards is on the A466 about 10 miles south of Hereford and 8 miles north of Monmouth. Follow the Parking sign off the main road and (if you're driving) park in the village car park, then walk back past Church Farm and enter the churchyard through the west gate.  The main entrance to the church is via the south porch.  Please keep the bird guard mesh doors closed to prevent our feathered friends from getting stuck inside!  Thank you.
